This was my first major assignment, and I enjoyed it a lot. My own personal view is that nothing is really rubbish; that we should endeavor to recycle everything we use. Hence for this assignment I aimed to create this work as natural as possible.
I used a background of the grass outside my house and as I live on a farm took photos of all the things I thought would suit. These images that I ended up with ranged from wood to metal to plastic but all hopefully had the rustic look I was going for. I originally made an entire alphabet by changed my mind as they did not blend too well together, I was highly influenced by some of the artists and messages displayed during the lectures and decided to create one of my own messages during the process of this assignment. I basically only used Photoshop to place all the images together and to copy and convert this image however I changed the opacity, lighted or darkened and changed colors of the letters so as to make the picture more visually appealing and to hopefully create the illusion that it was more ‘alive’.
To the left is how I changed the brightness and the colors, and below is the ammount of layers that I ended up using.
These were some of my favorite letters but unfortunatly it did not fit with the last ones so I decided to use the bricks instead.
This was my final piece, I like it a lot however I would love to learn how I can change one side of the wheel (or O) to be lighter however I'm sure I will eventually figure it out. =]
Peace and love
