Storyboard assignment

This is my final product the storyboard, I chose to do Hanz cristian Andersons work  'The Story of a Mother'. I found the storyline clear and a very siimple yet affective dark tone in which I thinght I could create the sequence. Also I really liked the characters I thought should be displayed in the sequence and thought it would be fun to create them in my own style.

Sexing up a product

I Finally caught up and made an advertisement type pic for the blog, this one was every fun as i got to used lot of different styles on phototshop, In particular the lines and circles. Making this really made me appreciate the amount of work that goes into this type of thing; the detail even coloring each little letter took me sooo long. Jamie(tutor) helped a lot to realize the amount of layers that go into project and how they amount to the final product.  I really liked the way that when the stars were added to the background they created almost the 'far away' look and I hope to use this kind of effect in some of my band photography.

Analyzing

I have chosen to do a peer review on one of my class mates http://genevieverivasdasilva.blogspot.com/.

Rubbish fonts –
Genevieve uses a very real, rustic kind of look for her photos, the warm texture draws the viewer to the image. The way the many simple shapes like the rose petals and the necklace overlap one another creates a amazing texture and act as great representations for the piece.  The way that all the pieces intertwine make them look like a part of each other, and draws they eye around the piece.

STRENGTHS-
Powerful photography, great images, very consistent feel and tone to the images

WEAKNESSES
The low light contrast makes it hard to read the text in the larger picture.

CD cover
The symbolism behind the CD cover itself is really entertaining, the grouping of threes, the matches reference and many others. Again a rich almost warm texture is used and is clearly balanced throughout each Image. The text is clear, perhaps a little simple but regardless effective. The cd cover could have reviews or something else relating to how good the band actually is.

STRENGTHS
Clear song titles, bold images, a coherent design,

WEAKNESSES
The text is a bit plain, as a band title it does not look very distinctive and the last song title seems a little random.

A Line is a Dot That Went for a Walk
The 'Line is a dot that went for a walk' project seems to be very different from her other posts but regardless, it is very good. The picture itself contains a very good use of photoshop. The colors are very similar and work well together but don't match as well to the previous look of the blog.
STRENGTHS
good use of photoshop, clear images and text

WEAKNESSES
Relevance seems a little off, and a little more detail may have helped.

Design brief assignment

This was a lot of fun to do although i have never made anyhting like this before the project gave me a chance to research other artists something I love to do.

Design brief assignment -topic one

CLIENTS
NASA Pioneer Spacecraft team.

Aim:
To create an image that when into outer space as a plaque if it were to come into contact with other organisms it would communicate information about the human race and Earth’s position in the Milky Way, as well as several symbols that are designed to provide information about the origin of the spacecraft. Hence it would need to create a feeling of trust towards them.

Target Audience:

Alien life forms, however it must also appeal to all humans as a design that they feel to be worthy to represent the human race.

Aim:
The aim is to create a print that not only tells alien life forms that humans are ‘out there’ but one that celebrates our achievements and represents the fantastic world we live in.

Details:
The poster would represent humans through the design of the Vitruvian Man drawing by Leonardo di Vinci. and the Woman based on a similar design (featured below). These will be placed on the left and right of the picture.
On the very right will be the element symbols, they are simple and explanatory and there is a good chance if the aliens are in the same sort of solar system they will understand what each represents.
In the far background will be the shape of our world (a bit like the example drawing I have put in) the picture will hope to show the simple shape of our planet and to show that it is made up of around 2 thirds water.
In the canter lower part of the picture should be a design based upon the Animal Kingdom drawing  this aims to show the diverse nature of earths flora and fauna.
At the very bottom of this drawing will be a picture of animal cells fading into the top picture to show what we are made up of and hopefully something that the aliens can relate to.

There will be in the far right side a arrangement of different symbols that bear importance to give them an insight into humans way of life, the cross symbol of religion, music notes a symbol of creativity, the Ankh  a symbol of life, mathematic and geographical symbols to show structure, and others.

At the top will be a map showing the path of the spacecraft, it will show or solar system and the stars surrounding it.

Poster Homelessness

As my next assignment I decided to base it on the issue of homelessness. Homelessness is a surprisingly large issue throughout Americia and is an ever growing issue in Australia.

This first car design was based on a couple of facts that brought upon the idea. There are approximately 7,483 families with children without homes on Australia and some of these consider themselves 'lucky' to be able to 'live' inside their cars.

My second design way based upon the facts that arround  21,940 of the homeless on the streets in Australia are children, some of these without parents to protect them. To make this I took pictures of my little brother and sister holding these signs in different environments that I created. The school board one took a long time I had to find a whiteboard then write up the kind of things you might find on a school whiteboard. I made up a fake flow chart for her to hold then had to create the right light to make it look as real as possible. The other picture of my little brother took a while I had to find and write up on the cardboard then had to find out the right clothes for him to wear and cover his hands in dirt, unfortunately it didn't turn out as dark or lonely as I would have liked it but I am still very happy with it.

Illistartor work

This was the first work I did with illistrator. It was really interesting to see how shapes like these are made and the skill and complexity that is involved. though My ones were very simple they were still fun to make, however I could never quite get the bottom to work, maybe Ill put some more up soon.
